April 2026 Newsletter: This month we are chatting grit, integrity and business longevity.
A Note from Rosemary…
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about what I would tell my younger self about starting a digital marketing agency.
It all started many moons ago in a digital media class in high school… or maybe it was digital publishing? Honestly, I can’t even remember what it was called at this point. It feels like a lifetime ago.
Maybe that’s going a little too far back, but there’s something valuable in reminiscing. It offers perspective.
I’ve been working in the digital marketing space for over 13 years now, and March Media will be celebrating 10 years in business at the end of 2026, which feels incredibly exciting.
I often see new marketing agencies pop up on Instagram with stylish branding, polished photoshoots, and big service offerings across social media and beyond.
And first, I want to say: I genuinely love seeing it.
There is something so inspiring about watching women start businesses, build beautiful brands, and step confidently into entrepreneurship. It truly is a treat.
That said, over the years I’ve also seen many agencies come and go.
Why?
There are a few reasons, and if I were starting a marketing company today, or offering advice to someone entering this space, here’s what I would share:
Don’t try to do everything. Focus on what you do best and provide an exceptional service to a niche audience that’s specific, but not so limited that you box yourself in.
Consistency is everything. Show up. Follow through. Do what you say you’re going to do. Reliability and consistency are becoming harder to find, which makes them even more valuable.
Organization is paramount. Build strong systems, respond to emails promptly, and keep the backend of your business running smoothly.
Your real job is helping people. This work is about more than marketing. It’s troubleshooting, problem-solving, sharing ideas, thinking outside the box, and going above and beyond to help your clients succeed in an ever-changing market.
Don’t be afraid to use your voice. Speak confidently in meetings. Trust your instincts. Believe in the quality of the work and service you provide.
Touch grass. It’s marketing. Even in stressful moments, it’s all going to be okay.
And lastly: your job won’t be taken by AI.
You’ll simply learn how to work with it to enhance your service, move smarter, and create even better results for yourself and your clients.
So if you take one pearl of wisdom from this month’s feature, let it be this:
Your business isn’t built on stylish photoshoots or cute graphics. It’s built on the real work happening behind the scenes.
Your grit, your integrity, and your willingness to keep showing up year after year — that’s what carries a business forward.
And trust me, that part never goes out of style.
THIS MONTH’S EDITORIAL
Don’t be afraid to invite your audience into your story.
Don’t be afraid to invite your audience into your story.
Your brand is more than the services you offer or the visuals you share. Your brand is the story people connect with.
The truth is, audiences aren’t just looking for polished marketing.
They’re looking for something real. They want to understand the why behind your business, the journey that brought you here, the lessons you’ve learned, and the moments that continue to shape the way you serve.
It’s your story. Don’t be afraid to tell it.
Whether it’s the behind-the-scenes of building your business, the values that guide your work, or even the life moments influencing your current season, inviting people into your story creates trust in a way traditional marketing never can.
People remember how you make them feel, and story is what makes your brand memorable.
This month, we’re leaning into content that feels more human, more personal, and more connected. Why? because the brands people love most are the ones that allow their audience to feel part of the journey. The highs, the lows and everything in between.
So here’s your reminder for April:
your story is an integral part of your strategy.
Maybe it's time to tell it more boldly.
